As one of the world's poorest countries, there are plenty of opportunities for people to volunteer in Nepal. Volunteers with Projects Abroad help out in a variety of projects including teaching English, care work, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and medical placements and electives.
With it’s wonderfully diverse religious and cultural heritage and breath-taking landscapes, Nepal is a mesmerising country for anyone looking to volunteer, whether you are on a gap year, a vacation, career break or looking for professional electives.
Our office is based in the bustling city of Kathmandu - a city full of jostling crowds, rickety ox carts, and noisy rickshaws. Our programmes are mostly based in Kathmandu, with a number also located in the more rural areas of the Kathmandu Valley and some medical projects based in the lowlands area of Chitwan.
Volunteers in Nepal live with host families. Some families welcome up to four volunteers into their home, and you'll usually share a room with one other volunteer. A couple of families even take up to twelve volunteers and these homes offer an experience more similar to living in a hostel.
