International Journalism Internships in Moldova with Projects Abroad

One of our international journalism internships is at the independent newspaper Ziarul de Garda. This publication tends to focus on investigative reporting, with recent articles focusing on issues such as corruption, human rights violations, and people trafficking. Interns also work at a corporate newspaper called Business Elita, which is distributed to over 6,000 companies in the Chisinau area. Working with this friendly team of journalists, you are likely to find yourself writing business related stories from a variety of perspectives: some interns have done interviews with important political figures, while others have been asked to present their own views on Eastern European trade.
If you find yourself interning at the newspaper Trud, you will be working for a record-breaking publication! Translated as ‘work’, or ‘labor’ Trud is in the Guinness Book of Records for having once had the largest ever circulation of 21.5 million! Further internships are at the medical journal Courier and the scientific publication Bio Synopsis
Your Role as a Journalism Intern in Moldova

Our journalism internships in Moldova offer you worthwhile practical experience of interning in a newspaper office in the capital city of Chisinau. You will generally start off your internship by shadowing a local journalist who will show you how articles are put together. You will then spend time researching your own news stories and features and conducting interviews within the community.
Your editor will be eager to hear any ideas you may have and your internship supervisor will be on hand to help and give advice, although ideas for articles should come to you easily in such a different culture. Recent interns have interviewed local ambassadors, musicians and members of the international community.
Your articles will be translated into Russian before they go to press for the benefit of the local readership. By the end of your internship, you should have a number of published articles, which you can take home for your portfolio.
"Along with this excellent hospitality, I have found many Moldovans to be very curious about England and I have been asked many questions regarding myself and my country. I find almost everyone very keen to hear what I have to say about the UK. Everyone also seems very enthusiastic about learning English, and I have found that the standard of English is extremely high. I therefore feel guilty about knowing so little Russian, although I have recently started to learn" James Taylor - Journalism intern in Moldova
This project is available for less than a month if you don't have time to join us for a month or more. This project has been selected by our local colleagues as being suitable for shorter durations for both the host community and the volunteer. Although you will gain valuable cultural insight and work intensely within the local community please be aware that you may not be able to make the same impact as someone participating for a longer period.
