Inspire Others to Volunteer Abroad

It is great to share photos and stories of your experiences when you return home, but why not help encourage others to go abroad and volunteer as well? As a past volunteer you may find it is sometimes difficult for friends or family to truly understand what your international experience was like, and the impact it has had on you. Many past volunteers find that they are eager to encourage others to travel and volunteer abroad so that they can embark on similar adventures and experiences. At Projects Abroad we are always happy to have the help and support of past volunteers, and are able to compensate you for your time and expenses working with us.

There are many ways to work with Projects Abroad to inspire others to volunteer once you have returned home. We love receiving web stories and photos from past volunteers, as they are extremely helpful in giving others a real sense of what it is like to a be a volunteer on any given program.
If you would like to write a story for our website, please visit click here so you can see what others have written. Your story should be a minimum of 300 words, including a short introduction saying who you are and how you came to be in your destination country. After that, what you want to emphasize is the placements, teaching at the school or working in the hospital, rather than the general experience abroad. Any interesting or amusing incidents that give a real sense of the country and culture are always entertaining and useful. Many volunteers put up posters around their schools, universities or hometowns to spread word of our programs and give others access to exciting international opportunities. If you would like to receive a poster pack please fill out a Poster Pack Request Form, and we will send you posters along with all the materials you need!

If you are eager to speak about your work and time abroad, there are also many opportunities to hold talks, either on your own or alongside a Projects Abroad employee. Whether individually or with our support, past volunteers have really enjoyed sharing stories and photos with prospective travelers, and encouraging them to join a project of interest. As Projects Abroad employees, we travel to many schools and universities around North America to share and promote our programs, and we are always thrilled to have the support of past volunteers at fairs and information sessions. It is so helpful for prospective volunteers to hear from people who have returned from our programs, and past volunteers find it is fun and rewarding to talk about their volunteer work with others who are interested in pursuing similar choices.
