International Medical Internships in Morocco

Intern abroad in Morocco Interning on our Medicine internship in Morocco will provide you with an excellent opportunity to learn about medical practices in another culture. Interns joining this internship need to have completed a minimum of one year of med school.

As a medical intern in Morocco, you will have the opportunity to work in a number of departments in one of our partner hospitals or clinics. Interns need to speak an intermediate level of French (or Arabic) in order to fully participate in the medical internship.

Your Role as a Medicine & Healthcare Intern in Morocco

On your first day of work, you will be introduced to your internship supervisor who will always be on hand to help you throughout your stay at the hospital or clinic. Before you arrive in Morocco, you will discuss your internship options with a member of staff and choose which departments you would prefer to intern in; options include dermatology, gynecology, pediatrics and surgery.

On our Medical internship in Morocco, your role is that of an intern and you will shadow the doctor who has been assigned as your supervisor. By observing the doctors and nurses, you will learn about different conditions and treatments and can discuss the cases with them to improve your medical knowledge.

Blood Pressure in Morocco

Although you will find that you spend a lot of time learning by shadowing staff, it is sometimes possible to have a more active role. If you show enthusiasm and initiative and you manage to develop a good relationship with the medical staff, you may find that you gain enough trust to be given more to do. As with any job - particularly in the field of medicine - you must prove yourself to be trustworthy before given responsibilities.

Your workday will normally be from 8am to 4pm when you will be at the hospital with your supervisor. Sometimes it will be beneficial to spend time working one-on-one with a patient with the supervision of a nurse. If you have any particular preferences or areas of interest, be sure to mention them at the time of application.

In your free time, there are plenty of opportunities to socialize with other volunteers, interns, and locals, as well as many travel opportunities. By living with a local host family, you will be welcomed into a warm Moroccan home and can use the opportunity to practice your French or Arabic language skills.
