Working as a Business Intern in Eastern Europe– What Can I Expect?
As a business intern in Eastern Europe, you will be placed in either a large or small business in Chisinau, Moldolva. Depending on which business you're placed in, you could be working with the upper echelons of the management staff, marketing and press departments, or in the finance and accounting department. Interns are usually required to work and average of 35 hours per week, and can anticipate a wide range of tasks and responsibilities throughout their internship. While knowledge of Moldovan is not necessary for the internship, business interns will be expected to be proficient in both verbal and written English.
All Moldavian businesses are eager to expand into the Western market, so any experience or ideas you have will be greatly appreciated. From working in local hospitals in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to reporting and writing for the Times of Madurai in India, interns will gain unique hands-on experience, as positions often offer greater responsibility and opportunities than many internships in North America. Depending on the program, interns work anywhere from 30 – 40 hours a week. While knowledge of the native language in the country where you are interning is usually not necessary, most interns will be expected to be proficient in both verbal and written English.
