Community Building in South Africa

If you want to get your hands dirty and see physical results from a short placement overseas, our building project may be the project for you.

This project enables volunteers to play a key role in the building of new, better quality facilities, making the care homes and early learning centres more comfortable and safer places. Daily activities include digging foundations, mixing and pouring cement, building a roof, or putting the finishing coat of paint on the completed building. Four-week volunteers will be able to have a stronger impact on the communities in which they work.

Volunteers live with local host families which gives a unique insight into this fascinating country.

At the weekend you will go on a trip with other volunteers and our local staff to see some of the world famous sites of South Africa which may include Table Mountain and Cape Point National Park. You may even have the chance to go whale watching at nearby Hermanus.

Volunteers will also have the opportunity to visit Robben Island, Table Mountain, do a Peninsula Tour and a Township Tour, and to visit a local market.
