As a Projects Abroad volunteer in Botswana, elephants will be a regular site during volunteer work.

Volunteer in Botswana

Live in the heart of the African bush and help protect endangered wildlife and biodiversity

Volunteer in Botswana with Projects Abroad and live in the heart of the African bush while you become part of ongoing conservation efforts.

Our volunteering opportunities in Botswana are centred around conservation work at a local reserve. The reserve sits on the banks of the mighty Limpopo River in the Tuli Block. Here, you’ll focus on protecting wildlife and the biodiversity of the area. Our full-time staff in Botswana are there to support you 24/7 if you need it.

Botswana is one of the most spectacular places for safaris in Southern Africa. You’ll see animals like elephants and lions. It’s the ultimate African adventure!

Where we are based in Botswana

The Tuli Block

Our Bushveld Conservation Project is based at a sprawling nature reserve situated in Botswana's Central Tuli Block. This area includes the famous Tuli elephants, giant Mashatu trees, and 2000 year-old Baobabs. You’ll also see the oldest exposed rocks on the planet, and stunning landscapes.

The camp where you’ll stay has a rustic, safari-like feel to it. This is where you’ll spend your days when you’re not working out in the reserve. Think starry evenings spent exchanging stories next to a roaring campfire with other volunteers, and the hot afternoons cooling down in the pool.

Airport pickup, flights and visas

When you arrive at your respective airport, a member of Projects Abroad staff will be there to meet you. You can find more detailed information on arrival airports, orientation, and visas on our Botswana Arrival Procedures page.
