Volunteer overseas on worthwhile and sustainable programmesVolunteer Overseas

Short Term Volunteering Overseas

Looking to volunteer overseas, but don’t have a lot of time in which to do it? Projects Abroad offers a number of short term volunteering options for those looking to help out in a disadvantaged community, experience a different culture and meet new people.

We understand that your time is valuable, so we want you to get the most out of your time abroad. You get to choose where you go, for how long, when you want to leave and when you want to return. You tell us your time restrictions and we fit these in with the needs and requirements in our destination countries. Whatever you're looking for in a gap year or career break, a summer program or postgraduate time out, we believe one of our programs can fit the bill.

Does short term volunteering really help?

We have put in place long-term development plans that ensure each programme has a clear purpose. In these, we set out specific goals that we wish to achieve in a particular destination, provide structure to the volunteers’ work and monitor our progress over time.

As such, the work you do as a short-term volunteer makes a valuable contribution towards achieving these long term goals. All the small daily tasks that you undertake on your placement are an important part of the bigger picture.

We have a large number of short-term volunteers who choose to go overseas with Projects Abroad. Each person continually builds on the work that was done by previous volunteers and ultimately, we achieve massive progress together.

Short term volunteering opportunities

Many of our Standard projects are available from as little as one or two weeks. You can browse the project durations here, to see which options are available for which destination.

We also offer a number of structured group trips, which run on fixed dates for two, three or four weeks:

Want to stay for longer?

We always encourage our volunteers to stay for as long as possible. This is so you can get the most out of your experience, and make a greater impact.
